ADJA REID
Adja Alexander Reid was born in New York City, traveled the world with her family for the first 1/2 of her life, attempted to live in a couple of other big cities in early adulthood and finally settled in Los Angeles, where she has been living for over 3 years.
Despite changing locales, hobbies, jobs, friends and lovers as often as she changed her underwear, one thing remained constant in Reid’s life- her love of the written word. She is now in the throes of her quarter-life crisis and fancies herself a sci-fi/romance novelist slash guest-writer for friends’ projects. Don’t ask her how she actually makes money.
These days you can find her lounging in a pose of ennui on the settee in her apartment in the ghetto, a pen firmly tapping against her teeth as she battles writer’s block and wins... sometimes. Reid is largely influenced by Charles Bukowski, Wally Lamb, Alice Walker, Octavia Butler, Etgar Keret, Edgar Allen Poe, Toni Morrison, Edward Albee, Richard Wright and Chuck Palaniuk, and hopes to one day do them and their memories proud.
